چکیده
Early maturity and genotype by environment interaction (GEI) have always been challenging concerns for breeders in selecting appropriate parents breeding programs. The presented study aimed to investigate early the dimension of gene action, as well as, assess performance half-diallel populations using eight advanced sweet corn inbred lines their 28 F1 hybrids with two commercial checks yield-related traits spring 2018 at Nowshera (plain) Swat (hilly) areas, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Analysis revealed significant differences among genotypes studied over both locations. General combining ability (GCA) effects were all agro-climatic conditions, except 100-kernel weight, specific (SCA) relevant grain yield GCA-SCA ratio indicated dominance which also gained support higher values SCA than GCA variances. Based on results, identified SWTS-1-8 SODS-1 serve good general combiners like earliness attributes, making them better improve stated characteristics corn. However, hybrids, i.e., NARCCCRI-19 × CCRI-34 Swat, showed best maturity. Likewise, SWTS-1-4 CCRIS-34, emerged desirable respectively. mentioned can be a source germplasm improvement, breaking through undesirable linkages future

Heterosis and Combining ability Studies for Sugar content in Sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata L.)
The present investigation has been undertaken in sweet corn to carry out the combining ability analysis and to estimate heterosis of yield and yield contributing characters. Eight divergent parents were selected and crossed in diallel fashion excluding reciprocals during kharif, 2010. The resulting 28 crosses along with parents and a standard check Sugar 75 and Madhuri were evaluated in Randomi...

12 single crosses (F1) achieved by combining four testers and three commercial lines of tomato were evaluated for their response to water deficit stress and the combining ability of yield and some yield components. The layout was split plots according to randomized complete block design with three replications and three irrigation levels (FC, 60%FC and 40%FC). Crossing among lines and test...
متن کاملStudy on Combining Ability and Gene Effects Estimation in Some Sweet Corn Inbred Lines (Zea mays L. var saccarata) by Line × Tester Method
In breeding programs determination of gene effects and general and specific combining ability for screening of test crosses is necessary. In order to estimate the genetic variance components and the general and specific combining ability of sweet corn lines, an experiment was conducted using 8 sweet corn S6 inbred lines (including 4 maternal and 4 paternal lines) by line × tester mating design ...

Nematode population densities and yield of sweet corn and sweet potato as affected by the nematicide fenamiphos, in a sweet corn-sweet potato-vetch cropping system, were determined in a 5-year test (1981-85). Sweet potato was the best host of Meloidogyne incognita of these three crops. Fenamiphos 15G (6.7 kg a.i./ha) incorporated broadcast in the top 15 cm of the soil layer before planting of e...
